Her Place Supper Club

The weather in Philly has been fluctuating, and a lot of my posts have been on the heavier side, so in today's post, I wanted to highlight a new, woman-owned, and operated restaurant that I had the privilege of securing a reservation!

Her Place is a supper club with a tagline on their website that claims the establishment is "kind of like a restaurant but kind of like a dinner party." And I would agree! The 22 seat, intimate restaurant serves up a prix fix menu, consisting of about 6 courses. Reservations for the following two weeks go live every Sunday evening at 6pm, with two dinner time options, 6:30 and 8:30pm. Her Place is a BYOB, one of the many not so hidden gems Philly can bolster about! While being a BYOB, Chef Amanda Schulson and her team give wine recommendations to pair with their bi-weekly menu.

A few Sundays ago, at 6pm, Billy was able to secure a reservation for four to Her Place. We decided to ask my cousin and a good childhood friend of mine if they would like to join us, since we kind of started our own supper club. The following Thursday, we arrived early to our 8:30 time slot to grab a good table.

Chef Amanda starts off by introducing herself and her team and gives a little background into where Her Place originated. This venture was supposed to start as a small pop-up but grew with popularity and is now a standing establishment. Chef continues by explaining the menu, and how the coursing will work and then the team begins to plate the food.

The kitchen and dining room are open concept, so it truly feels as if you are at someone's dinner party, with the intimacy of having your own table with your group. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. Every morsel was bursting with unique flavors that complimented each other, while being vastly different than anything we have tasted before.

In a male dominated industry, it's refreshing to have new takes on cuisine and a different restaurant scene. I would recommend booking the 8:30 timeslot, since we were until almost 11:30. The 6:30 slot has to clear out by 8:10 - so I think we were able to relax and have a little more fun. Chef Amanda and her team do a phenomenal job, and I plan on returning!
